The Balfour Duo 1500 is a dual-powered electric fence energiser for medium-sized horse paddocks, conventional livestock fencing and up to two 50m electric poultry nets. It can be powered from a rechargeable 12V battery in the field or connected to a mains supply when installed under cover.

With 1.0 joule of output energy, the Duo 1500 provides considerably more fence power than a small strip-grazing energiser. Its 4,100V output at a 500-ohm load also shows that it can maintain a useful working voltage when the fence places a moderate demand on the energiser.

For conventional tape, rope, polywire or wire fencing, we recommend it for fences up to approximately 6km. This makes it a good fit for a medium-sized horse paddock, several grazing divisions or a fence with multiple live lines.

The Duo 1500 can also power up to two 50m electric poultry nets. This makes it useful for poultry keepers who want an energiser with enough output for a pair of connected nets without moving to one of the larger models in the range.

When no mains supply is available, the energiser connects to an external rechargeable 12V battery using the supplied crocodile leads. This allows it to be positioned close to the fence and used in remote paddocks.

The included mains adaptor provides a convenient alternative where electricity is available. For mains operation, the energiser must be housed indoors or in a suitable weatherproof enclosure. Insulated lead-out cable should then connect it to the outdoor fence and earth system.

Fence and earth connection leads are supplied. A rechargeable 12V battery is not included.

A two-piece earth stake and mounting stand is available as a paid option. When selected, it supports the energiser beside the fence during battery operation and provides its earth connection. Customers who do not select the stand will need to provide suitable mounting and earthing equipment.

The Duo 1500 is made in Germany and is covered by a three-year manufacturer’s warranty.
