The Hotline KV10 LED Electric Fence Voltage Tester provides more information than a simple audible pocket tester. Its ten-stage display indicates the approximate voltage present on the fence, helping you judge whether the system is performing at a useful level.

To test the fence, hold the unit close to the live conductor and press the large central red button. The illuminated LEDs indicate the detected voltage in stages between 1,000V and 10,000V.

Because it is self-earthing, the tester does not require a separate ground lead or probe. There is also no need to make direct contact with the fence, which makes it quick to use at several points along a fence line.

The voltage display can help identify a substantial drop between the energiser and a more distant part of the fence. It is useful for routine checks after installation, following bad weather or whenever you suspect vegetation, a poor connection or a damaged insulator is affecting performance.

The staged LEDs provide an approximate voltage level rather than the precise numerical reading produced by a digital voltmeter. For routine fence checks this is usually sufficient, while more detailed fault diagnosis may justify a digital tester or directional fault finder.

The tester is powered by two CR2016 lithium batteries.
